5 Poses That Work for Everyone (Even If You Hate the Camera)

,

You’re not alone—most people feel awkward in front of a camera. “Where do I put my hands?” “Do I look stiff?” Trust me, I hear it all the time. The good news? You don’t need to be a model or love photos to look amazing. You just need the right guidance and a few go-to poses that work every time.

Over the years, I’ve developed posing techniques that make my clients feel natural, comfortable, and confident. The key is movement, not rigidity. We want flow, not stiffness. Here are 5 universal poses that always look great:

  1. The Walk & Laugh – Just walk toward me slowly, look slightly to the side, and laugh like you heard a joke. It feels silly—but it looks effortless and joyful.
  2. The “S” Curve – Perfect for portraits. Shift your weight to one leg, let your hip relax, and let your arms hang naturally. It creates a flattering, feminine silhouette without trying too hard.

  3. Hands to the Face – Gently touch your chin or cheek while looking away. It creates an editorial vibe and frames your face beautifully.

  4. Sitting Angled Away – Sit sideways, look over your shoulder slightly toward the camera, and rest your hands on your legs. It’s flattering and feels very candid.

  5. Playing with Hair or Clothes – Adjust your jacket, fix your hair, or hold your skirt—these small movements feel real and photograph incredibly well.

You don’t need to memorize poses—you just need a photographer who knows how to guide you. I’ll coach you through movements, help you loosen up, and make you forget the camera is even there. The result? Photos where you feel like you—just a more confident, radiant version.

Suggested photos to include:

  • A carousel of each pose with real clients.
  • A behind-the-scenes video showing pose guidance.
  • Expressions in movement: hair flips, walking shots, candid smiles.
